Imad Wasim retires from international cricket
Imad Wasim, an all-rounder for Pakistan, has declared his retirement from playing cricket for his country. The 34-year-old, who has made 121 appearances for Pakistan in white-ball cricket, last participated in a T20I match against New Zealand in April of this year.
Imad acknowledged on social media that he has been thinking about his future in international cricket for the past several days. In a statement, he stated, “All 121 of my appearances in the ODI and T20I formats were a dream come true.” With fresh coaches and leadership joining the team, Pakistani cricket is entering an exciting new chapter.”
Imad made his T20I debut for Pakistan in May 2015, and two months later, he made his ODI debut. He had a reputation over time for being extremely frugal with the ball, particularly in the shortest format, and for being a useful batter lower in the order. The left-hander captained the group in two One-Day Internationals and was a member of the squad that won the Champions Trophy in England in 2017.
He was not included in the Pakistani team that advanced to the T20 World Cup final in Australia last year, and he hasn’t participated in a 50-over match for the country in more than three years. Imad will carry on with his playing career outside of international cricket. He has already participated in leagues all across the world.
“Thank you to the Pakistan fans for always supporting me with such passion,” he stated. “A last note of gratitude to my loved ones and friends, who have much contributed to my success. I’m excited to concentrate on the following phase of my playing career while I’m not on the international scene.”
