After a successful World Cup run, Ravindra is eager to move to the Test Match.
The star player of New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra, is preparing for the challenges of a two-Test series that begins on November 28 against Bangladesh.
With his electrifying performance at the just finished ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Ravindra captured the attention of people worldwide. With three centuries and two half-centuries under his belt, he amassed 578 runs at an average of 64.22. With the best figures of 2/21, he also claimed five wickets with his left-arm spin.
Throughout his career, he has only participated in three Test matches with meager results, the most recent was a home match against Bangladesh in 2022. The all-rounder will, however, be a strong candidate to make it into New Zealand’s playing XI for the forthcoming Test series against the Bangladesh Team thanks to his outstanding performance at the World Cup.
“After the recent World Cup white-ball experience, I like returning to red-ball cricket because it indicates that you have a positive intent and are nearly looking to score. That puts you in a good position to score, so, yeah,” Ravindra remarked. However, it most likely depends on the circumstances here. The pitch is likely to reduce the risks a little bit by doing what it is doing. By grasping the surface and the circumstances of the game, you can still play your natural game.
Ravindra continued, saying that the group had to get used to a test’s extended duration.
“I think we sometimes underestimate the duration of a Test match.” This is your fifth day of ninety overs a day, so you have plenty of time. From the one-dayers to the red-ball stuff, hopefully we can instill that composure in the group.
Because of his left-arm spin, Ravindra can also be useful. Thinking back to his previous trips to Bangladesh, which included a Twenty20 International tour in 2021, he had a few ideas.
“Bowl at a quicker pace than we are probably used to at home; if you are putting it in the area and cranked the pace a little bit more, hopefully, you will have some success.”
Two Tests will be played in Sylhet and Mirpur as part of New Zealand’s tour of Bangladesh.
