Mr. Greg Barclay, President of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has notified President Ranil Wickremesinghe of his intention to visit Sri Lanka promptly to discuss the chaos and accusations surrounding the Sri Lanka Cricket Association and the ban on Sri Lanka cricket. Says a senior official.

The sources went on to say that in response to an email sent to the Chairman of the International Cricket Council requesting the lifting of the cricket ban, President Ranil Wickramasinghe provided this information.

Two members of the International Cricket Council’s Executive Committee are alleged to have strongly opposed the extension of Sri Lanka’s cricket ban, despite the fact that other members have indicated their willingness to provide some relief. Their opposition is based on two factors.

The two are allegedly at odds because they both have firsthand knowledge of the Minister of Sports’ past actions regarding rugby and football, as well as the fact that the cricket interim committee was not dissolved after it was established and a cabinet subcommittee was formed to investigate the situation.

As a result, the International Cricket Council has made the decision to look into the political meddling at the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute in more detail.
