SLC WOMEN’S INVITATIONAL MAJOR CLUB TOURNAMENT 2023


The highlight of Sri Lanka Navy SC Women’s convincing 340-run victory over Ace Capital CC Women in their SLC Women’s Invitational Major Club Tournament 2023 fixture played at the Navy Grounds on Tuesday was a thrilling unbeaten 156 by Sathya Sandeepani off 140 balls, including 17 boundaries and a six, and 118 by Hansma Karunaratna off 89 balls who retired hurt having hit 15 boundaries and 3 sixes. Batting first, SL Navy SC Women defeated Ace Capital CC Women for a meager 32 in 20.4 overs after amassing 372 for 5 wickets in 50 overs. A 217-run partnership for the fourth wicket was shared by the two.
With Inoka Ranaweera taking 5 wickets for 15 and Sathya Sandeepani taking 3 for 15, the Ace Capital batting team was unable to reach double figures.
In the meantime, Piumi Wathsala, the captain of Panadura Sports Club Women, led from the front with a classy unbeaten 119 off 102 balls, hitting 12 boundaries in a huge 270-run win over Burgher Recreation Club. Earlier in the Monday exchanges at the BRC Grounds, the team had amassed 292 for 4 in the allotted 50 overs and decimated their opponents to 22 for 9 in 19.1 overs.
The best score for BRC was ten extras, as none of its batters reached double figures against the opening attack of Rashmika Sewwandi, who claimed 6 for 6, and Chathana Vimukthi, who claimed 3 for 16. Devindi Kulathunga, the final batter, retired hurt without scoring.Panadura’s other run getters were opener Navodya Fernando 49 off 66 with four boundaries, Erandi Hansamali 46 off 56 with five, and Amadhi Kaveendaya, the wicketkeeper, 45 off 61 with seven.Duminsha Randishani (1 for 27), Devindi Kulathunga (1 for 28), and Devini Fernando (1 for 66) were the BRC wicket-takers.

At the Air Force Grounds in Katunayake on Monday, the Sri Lanka Army SC Women took on the Singhalese Sports Club Women in a one-sided match that ended as quickly as it began. They shot out their opponents for 26 in 19.1 overs and breezed to 27 in just 4.5 overs, with Anushka Sanjeewani scoring 13 off 18 and Nilakshi De Silva scoring a run a ball 12 with a boundary.
Eight SSC batters were removed for ducks, with Nimesha Madushani scoring two for zero and Sugandika Kumari scoring three for no runs and Sadani D. De Silva scoring three runs, respectively.
Iresha Shyamali, the captain of the SSC and the opening batswoman, was the only one to score twice.

At the Welagedera Stadium in Kurunegala, Badureliya CC Women defeated Kurunegala YCC Women by 6 wickets, scoring 49 for 4 in 10 overs after dismissing their opponents for 48 off 23 overs. With Sugandika Pathirana taking six wickets for five runs and Janadi Anali taking four wickets for sixteen, only Ashani Kawshalya 11 achieved double figures.The opening scorers for Badureliya were Lihini Hapuarachchi with 11 off 17 and Shyama Ranasinghe with 15 off 18 and two boundaries.Danuli Thennakoon of Kurunegala scored 3 out of 5 and Kavishka Abeyrathne scored 1 out of 19.


Colts win 7 WKTS vs. CCC B& 7.


At their home stadium, Colts CC Women defeated Colombo Cricket Club by 7 wickets, scoring 91 for 3 off 16 overs, more than halving their opponents’ 89 off overs. The Colts’ top scorer was Udeni Kuruppuarachchi, who finished with 33 off 39 and 4 boundaries. Hasara Wijayaratne finished with 14 off 31 and 1 boundary, while Udayangani De Silva finished with a career-best 29 off 12 balls and 6 boundaries. Hashini Liyanage took 1 for 17 and Vidushika Perera of the CCC took 1 for 15.
Ushani Wickramarachchi’s 21 off 85 balls, Shikari De Silva’s 15 off 38 with a boundary, and Kaushini Nuthyanga’s 13 off 27 with a boundary were the core of CCC’s score.
Nethmi Sanjana, Chamari Lakshani, and Madhara Samarakoon Colts delivered with the ball, earning two points each for two, fourteen, and twenty-four.


Tamil Union Lost to SL Air Force by eight wickets.


At the P. Saravanamuththu International Stadium, the Sri Lanka Air Force Women defeated their Tamil Union counterparts by eight wickets, reaching 77 for 2 off 23 overs and overwhelming their opponents 76 off 40.4 overs, led by Chamari Polgampola, who was unbeaten at 29 off 70 with two boundaries, and skipper Oshadi Ranasinghe, who was undefeated at 25 off 45 with three boundaries.
