2023.12.01
Warriors are helped to the top of the table by Shamsi and Zazai.
Samp Army wins the competition for the first time thanks to a combination of Moeen and du Plessis.
Bangla Tigers 143 for 4 (Cox 90, Thushara 2-22) beat Deccan Gladiators 123 for 3 (Nicholas Pooran 41, Allen 40*, Haider Ali 1-11) by 20 runs
In the last match of the Abu Dhabi T10 league on Thursday, the Jordan Cox show gave the Bangla Tigers the lead and sentenced the Deccan Gladiators to their second loss in three games.
Gladiators had asked Tigers to bat first, and Cox delivered an explosive 36-ball 90 not out with eight fours and six sixes, giving Tigers 143 for 4, the best total in the competition thus far. In the chase, Gladiators scored 123 for 3, making it the highest-scoring match of the competition thus far. Fabian Allen and Nicholas Pooran’s fast 40s kept them in the game, if only narrowly.
Despite the fact that Chris Lynn, David Miller, and Daniel Sams combined for zero runs off seven balls in the Tigers innings, Cox was in devastating form, so they didn’t have much to worry about. Additionally, Dasun Shanaka (25* in 11) and Kusal Mendis (19 in eight balls) contributed.
In response, Andre Fletcher (17 in five balls) and Pooran kept the Gladiators going after Tom Kohler-Cadmore, their batting star of the previous two games, was knocked cheaply. It was game on when Pooran was removed for a 17-ball 41 with 4.5 overs remaining and the Gladiators 72 not out. However, despite Allen’s 40 not out in 16 balls and Andre Russell’s 11 not out in 17 balls, Gladiators fell considerably short.
Northern Warriors rise to the top of the table thanks to Shamsi and Zazai.
Northern Warriors 106 for 0 (Zazai 52*, Lewis 46*) beat Team Abu Dhabi 103 for 7 (Banton 33, Shamsi 2-17) by 10 wickets
With a convincing 10-wicket victory over Team Abu Dhabi, Tabraiz Shamsi’s wristspin combined with some powerful hitting from openers Kennar Lewis and Hazratullah Zazai sent Northern Warriors to the top of the table.espncricinfo
Tom Banton and Alex Hales, Abu Dhabi’s English openers, got off to a great start, racing to 39 in less than four overs. However, Shamsi truck got Banton to hole out after a slog sweep. Abu Dhabi found it difficult to form meaningful partnerships when Colin Ingram was dismissed for 10 two overs later. Shamsi also removed Hales, and only one of the four batters they removed after that scored more than ten runs. Abu Dhabi reached 103 for 7 thanks to a fast 19 off seven with two sixes from Asif Khan.
With one over remaining, Lewis and Zazai, facing 27 balls apiece, each of which 10 reached the boundary rope and five went over, achieved that aim. Zazai hit a winning six over long-on to get his fifty while Lewis was still not out at 46.
Gous, du Plessis, Janat, and Moeen get Samp Army off to a good start.
Samp Army 99 for 3 (Gous 43, du Plessis 31) beat Chennai Braves 97 for 7 (Asalanka 31, Janat 2-15, Moeen 2-17) by seven wickets
Before Samp Army’s openers Andries Gous and Faf du Plessis put on a quick fifty-wick partnership to record a seven-wicket victory with one ball remaining, Chennai Braves were reduced to 97 for 7 thanks to two wickets apiece from Karim Janat and Moeen Ali.espncricinfo
Braves were down to 6 for 2 in the second over when Jason Holder and Janat combined to take three wickets in the fifth over, including a run out, leaving them at 27 for 6. Even though Holder concluded with astounding figures of 2-0-8-1, Charith Asalanka counterattacked and blazed a 31 off 13 before undefeated cameos from Aayan Afzal Khan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa pushed them to a more reasonable total.sportzlanka
Even though du Plessis and Moeen fell in consecutive overs, Samp Army scored at a decent clip at the top of the order thanks to Gous and du Plessis. With three balls remaining, Samp Army needed to score thirty runs, which Najibullah Zadran made sure they did by hitting the game-winning six on the last ball.
