The right-arm seamer scored twice in pivotal moments to tie the score in the previous game for the home team. This time, though, that was not the case. Wong took advantage of a brief respite to score a match-winning innings and ensure victory for England A with three fours and a six. She needed only seven deliveries to complete her final 23 runs.
After Kanika Ahuja’s 14-ball 27 and Uma Chetry’s 26 off 14 deliveries guided India A to 149 for nine, England A got off to a steady start, with openers Grace Scrivens and Maia Bouchier forging a 38-run opening stand. Wong, a vital member of the Mumbai Indians in the first Women’s Premier League season, was unfazed by England losing a few quick wickets halfway through the innings. She stayed composed and gave guidance.
She kept her composure and led the team home with seven balls remaining.
