Selectors are nudged by Kamindu Mendis and Sahan Arachcige; Tharindu Harshana, Parvez Rasool, and Ravindra Fernando also reach the top 100 groove.

In their draw against Army SC in the SLC Major League 2023 Tournament at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium, CCC’s Kamindu Mendis, who has been in a match to catch the eyes of the national selectors for top flight national duty, was once again among the runs hitting the three-figure mark with aplomb, scoring 101.

Both SSC and Police SC advanced to the finals; SSC scored 109.145 points, leading Group A, while Police SC, making their first-ever final appearance, scored 114.245 points, leading Group B.

Sahan Arachchige of the NCC, who has also been vying for national recognition, was a composed left-hand batsman who appeared on the scene and stroked 106 against Bloomfield C&AC in their tie at the Bloomfield Grounds.

In the teams’ tie at the P. Saravanamuththu International Stadium, Parvez Rasool of Badureliya scored 124, while Ravindra Fernando of Tamil Union C&AC scored 134 and Tharindu Harshana scored 111.

Akila Dananjaya, a discard spinner for Sri Lanka, extended his excellent run with the ball yesterday, with career-best figures of 9 for 56 as Colts CC easily defeated Ragama CC by 7 wickets in their Major League match played at Surrey grounds Maggona.

In the meanwhile, the teams who finished worst in the points table—Galle CC, Army SC, and Sebastianites from Group B—as well as Air Force SC and Group A—will be eliminated from the competition.
