IRELAND TOUR OF ZIMBABWE 2023
2023.12.05
T20Is vs Ireland feature Zimbabwe’s uncapped pair.
Zimbabwe makes many changes to their Twenty20 international team in anticipation of their upcoming match, which will take place at home against Ireland. Four players from Zimbabwe’s team were cut by the selectors after the country’s dismal performance in the qualifiers prevented them from making it to the T20 World Cup.
The players who have been excluded are openers Nick Welch and Innocent Kaia, spinner Wellington Mazakadza, and pacer Tendai Chatara. The selectors have reinstated leg spinners Brandon Mavuta and Tony Munyonga in addition to choosing two players without caps. The Mountaineers recently scored runs in List A cricket, and their 20-year-old hitter Brian Bennett was rewarded with a selection, as did their 25-year-old fast bowler Trevor Gwandu.
Veteran Craig Ervine, who missed most of the qualifiers due to a groin ailment, will continue to assist Sikandar Raza in leading the team. At the Harare Sports Club on December 7, the three-match series will begin. The following two games, on December 9 and 10, will also take place at the same location.
Squad:Sikandar Raza (c), Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Craig Ervine, Trevor Gwandu, Luke Jongwe, Clive Madande, Wessly Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brandon Mavuta, Carl Mumba, Tony Munyonga, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, Sean Williams
