England vs West Indies T20I series
2023.12.11
After their disappointing World Cup defence and last week’s 2-1 ODI series defeat, Jos Buttler’s men will hope to bounce back in the short form of the game in the Caribbean.
On Tuesday (12 December), England will face the West Indies in the first of five T20 internationals.
The teams will play at Bridgetown, Barbados, where the hosts won a one-day international series 2-1 on Saturday, inflicting extra agony on Jos Buttler’s men following their disastrous Cricket World Cup defense in India.
Buttler and company now have an opportunity to conclude 2023 on a high note, with England crowned world champions in the short version of the game.
Shai Hope, the West Indies skipper, was voted Player of the Series on Saturday and will want to carry his hitting success into T20Is.
Will Jacks shined with both bat and ball for the tourists, who are desperate to avoid a fourth straight series defeat in the Caribbean after losing T20Is and Tests earlier this year.
Adil Rashid, Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, and left-arm pacemen Tymal Mills and Reece Topley are among those returning to the England team.
The hosts have also added to their team, with renowned all-rounder Andre Russell returning for the first time since the 2021 T20 World Cup.
In the batting department, Jason Holder, captain Rovman Powell, and big-hitting Nicholas Pooran bring depth and power.
