Starting on Tuesday, the six incumbent continental champions will play for the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad, who have 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema at their side, will face Champions League defending champions OFC Auckland City in the first round in New Zealand on Tuesday.

The squads from the host country and the OFC Champions League battle for a spot in the second round of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The winner of the Al Ittihad vs. Auckland City game will play Egyptian champions Al Ahly in the second round, which begins on Friday. In the other second-round encounter, Mexico’s Club Leon will face Japan’s Urawa Reds, the North and Central American champions and AFC Champions League winners.

The two second-round winners will advance to the semi-finals, which will include UEFA Champions League champions Manchester City and South American representative Fluminense FC of Brazil.

On December 22, the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 final will be held at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah.

Real Madrid is the most successful team in the FIFA Club World Cup, having won five trophies, including the most recent one. However, they were defeated by Manchester City in the semi-finals of the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League and failed to qualify this year.
