Sri Lanka Cricket‘s unsung heroes, the ground staff, finally received the promised cash rewards from the Asia Cup. Cheers to these tireless workers who maintain the cricketing stage, now rightfully acknowledged for their vital role in the game’s magic.”

The ground crew of the RPICS in Colombo and the PICS in Kandy received the US$50,000 prize (LKR 16 million) that Sri Lanka Cricket had promised them during the Asia Cup.

As a result, 138 permanent and contract workers of the RPICS in Colombo who worked during the Asia Cup 2023 received rewards for their efforts, and on Friday, 08.12.2023, 115 employees of the PICS in Kandy will get their rewards.

Despite the unfavorable weather that prevailed during the tournament, the staffs of both venues performed a fantastic job of making sure the practice facilities, outfield, pitches, covering and uncovering of the ground, and related services were in place and available in time to conduct the competition successfully.

Receivers of the prize payout include technical staff, ground crew, grass supervisors, and curators.

On Friday morning, the 8th, the National Curator, Mr. Godfrey Dabrera, gave the prizes to the RPICS ground crew.

The Asian Cricket Council and Sri Lanka Cricket jointly gave out the prizes; each organization contributed US$25,000.
