In the super match, SSC drove themselves into a box seat 250 for 3. Rain ruined the SLC Major Clubs League Cricket Tournament 2023 final. The last two days were rained off, with the exception of one over yesterday at the NCC grounds, when SSC scored four runs to their overnight 250 for the loss of three wickets versus Police SC. With three runs from that over, Nuwanidu Fernando moved to a perfect 10 points, while Kusal Mendis scored 29 on the first day.
The initial rounds were still unfinished, and there was a chance of rain once again as the crunch final entered its fourth and final day.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first on a batting-friendly NCC wicket, Police SCs captain Ashen Bandara must have regretted his choice after a dominant opening day performance by SSCs openers Avishka Fernando (107 off 137 balls) and Shevon Daniel (56 off 88 in a 111-run partnership.
