Fernando said that he had also requested the ICC’s “observations” about an audit report concerning the board’s purported corruption during the T20 World Cup in Australia last year.

Arjuna Ranatunga, the captain of Sri Lanka that won the World Cup in 1996, led an interim panel that was formed by Fernando’s predecessor, Roshan Ranasinghe, who dismissed the elected board in November.

As a result, the ICC suspended Sri Lanka, citing the board’s inability to stop political meddling in the game’s management.

Ranasinghe was fired late last month due to the scandal surrounding corruption on the board, which is the wealthiest athletic organization in the otherwise bankrupt country.
