In the first innings of the Perth Test match against Pakistan, rookie Aamer Jamal claimed five wickets as Australia was bowled out for 487. In response, Pakistan’s opening team navigated a challenging 20-over session prior to lunch, finishing at 43/0 at the halfway point.

Mitchell Marsh, who was in excellent form earlier in the day, was bowled first ball for ninety nine runs to kick off the session in good manner for Pakistan. Pakistan had a great start after taking that wicket, as they quickly finished out the tail. The best bowler, Aamer Jamal, ended with six wickets after taking five on his debut, helping the hosts be bowled out for 487.

Then, Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq got off to a cautious start as just nine runs were scored in the opening five overs. Within 10 overs, Pat Cummins entered the assault, and before the interval, Nathan Lyon was also given a push. But Australia’s best bowlers were unable to find success. Despite Pakistan’s 444-run lead, Australia will still like their chances in the final session.

Australia stunned the visitors by scoring 130 runs in 26 overs during the morning session. Resuming at 346/5, Pakistan could have been able to limit Australia to a score of less than 400 if they had taken an early wicket. But Marsh got going immediately away, taking the hosts beyond 400 with 90 runs for the sixth wicket. Marsh kept harassing the visitors and scored runs quickly to put his team firmly in control even after Alex Carey left.
