Phil Salt anchored England’s run chase by playing a centurion knock of 109 runs.

After losing the first two matches, England scored a significant victory in the third match of their five-match T20I series in the West Indies.

The West Indies experienced difficulties early in their innings, when openers Brandon King and Kyle Mayers were dismissed. Adversity, on the other hand, fuels resilience, and the team’s fortunes took a dramatic change when Nicholas Pooran and Shai Hope seized over, launching a fierce counter-attack against the opposing bowlers. Pooran persisted in his relentless attack even after Hope’s departure, having contributed 26 runs, forming key friendships with the captain, Rovman Powell, and the exciting Sherfane Rutherford.

Powell batted 39 with poise and technique, while Rutherford made a strong impression with a 29-run contribution before leaving the game. Pooran, on the other hand, reached the pinnacle of the innings with a magnificent effort. He scored 82 runs off 45 deliveries, displaying his brilliance with six boundaries and an equal amount of soaring sixes. In a critical supporting role, Jason Holder contributed 18 runs, driving the hosts to a daunting total of 223/6 in just 20 overs. The scoreboard, a monument to the team’s tenacity and collective talent, served as a challenge to its adversaries.

The English opening pair of Phil Salt and Jonny Bairstow set the tone with a scorching start in their chase of the aim. They scored 107 runs in the first ten overs, demonstrating an aggressive batting performance. Bairstow was fired after hitting his half-century mark, and Will Jacks followed suit.

Salt then found a formidable partner in hard-hitting Liam Livingstone, with whom he established a combination that generated 70 runs, with Livingstone adding 30 runs, including three massive sixes. Salt scored his first international T20 century, going undefeated with 109 runs off 56 balls, in a stunning effort. Harry Brook’s late-innings heroics, including a cameo of 31 runs off just seven balls, meant visitors completed the goal with a ball to spare, clinching a thrilling triumph.
