Army and Air Force wins Munchee Super League volleyball championships 2023.

In an electrifying showdown at the Maharagama National Youth Service Council Indoor Stadium, the Army team clinched their 72nd Men’s Championship in the Munchee Cup Super League Volleyball Championship. Meanwhile, the Air Force team claimed the Women’s Championship in a display of skill and grace. With 15 teams in the fray, both Army’s men’s and women’s teams carved their path to the finals, leaving an indelible mark on the tournament’s history.

The men’s runner-up in the tournament was won by the Electricity Board team and the women’s runner-up was won by the Army team.

In a dazzling display of dominance, the Sri Lanka Army team claimed victory with a resounding 3-0 triumph over the Sri Lanka Ports Authority team in the semi-final round. Simultaneously, the Electricity Board team electrified the court with a stellar performance, securing a decisive 3-0 win against the formidable Police team. These outstanding victories propel the Sri Lanka Army and Electricity Board teams into the coveted final match, setting the stage for an epic showdown in the Manchi Cup Super League Volleyball Championship. The players of both sides managed to take the match to 4 rounds. But the Sri Lanka Army players, who had won 2 rounds in a row, won the fourth round and defeated the power board players 3-1 and became the champions of the year 2023.Score: 25-22, 25-13, 18-25, 25-19

In the competition held to select the third place in the tournament, the Sri Lanka Port Authority team won and the police team lost to them.

Women’s tournament

Participating Teams:

Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air Force, Omega Line, Hydramani, Maliban, Sri Lanka Navy and Casual Lanka Sports Club. Sri Lanka Air Force and Hydramani teams, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Army also qualified to qualify for the semi-final round of the tournament.

Accordingly, in the matches held, the Sri Lanka Air Force team, which won the match 3-0 against the Hydramani team, and the Army team, which won the match against the Sri Lanka Navy team 3-2, qualified for the finals. Last year, the champions air force entered the finals this time too and won the match against the army by 3-0.Scores: 25-21, 25-18 and 25-17.

The Hydramani team won the third place in the tournament and the Sri Lanka Navy won the fourth place.
