2023.12.30
Sri Lanka has won 47 ODIs and all 3 T20s against Zimbabwe
When it comes to hosting Zimbabwe for three ODIs and three Twenty20s starting on January 6 as part of its 2024 cricket schedule, Sri Lanka has a clear edge over Zimbabwe on paper. Pallekele International Cricket Stadium will host the three One-Day Internationals, which will end on January 11.
For the record, Sri Lanka has won all three Twenty20 matches between the two nations between 1992 and July 2, 2023, and 47 of the 61 ODI encounters, with two ending in a draw. In ODIs, Zimbabwe has only won twelve. At Queens Super Club in Bulawaya, Sri Lanka won the final match by a margin of nine wickets.
In the last match of the ICC World Twenty 20, Sri Lanka defeated the first group C match by 82 runs at home in Hambantota. The country had won the first ODI by 5 wickets at Maple Leaf North West Ground in 2008.
The Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium will host the three Twenty20 matches from January 14–18. These two series will take place day and night.
Kusal Mendis is predicted to be named the ODI captain, while all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva will captain the T20 team in place of veteran captain Dasun Shanaka. The new Lankan selection committee is led by Upul Tharanga, the former opening batsman for Sri Lanka.
