Dube powers India to series lead 1-0
In the first Twenty20 International in Mohali, India crushed Afghanistan’s meager score of 158 thanks to a well-executed performance by Shivam Dube (60* off 40), who also had six wickets remaining.
Although the hosts lost their first two wickets during the powerplay, Dube and Tilak Verma (26 off 22) spearheaded the counterattack, and Jitesh Sharma (31 off 20) followed to help India go closer to the goal. Afghanistan was roughly 20–25 runs shy of a par total, and Mohammad Nabi (42 off 27) was a big part of why they managed to reach 158, as his counterpunch provided them momentum after a sluggish start.
