Jackson Irvine and substitute Jordan Bos helped Australia to 2-0 win against India.
In front of a mostly Indian audience at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Australia defeated India 2-0 in their opening Group B match at the Asian Cup on Saturday. Goals came from substitute Jordan Bos and Jackson Irvine in the second half.
After a scoreless first half, Australia took the lead in the fiftyth minute when Indian goalie Gurpreet Singh mishandled a cross. Irvine, who was in the box, scored after Singh’s feeble attempt to palm it away.
Riley McGree dribbled into the area and cut a pass back to Bos to score seconds after entering the game, giving Australia the advantage. The goal put Australia ahead 1-0 over India.
