Today, at the Inter-School First Class Cricket Tournament run by the Sri Lanka School Cricket Association, Wattala Lyceum College became victorious by a margin of seven wickets.

Panadura St. John’s College and Wattala Lyceum International School began their match yesterday (20). At the conclusion of the first double innings, St. John’s College had earned a first innings victory with a lead of 43 points. They could only muster 114 runs in their second innings, though.

In order to win the game, the Lyceum players were assigned a target of 158 runs, which they were able to chase down with just three wickets lost. Omalka Hapuarachchi, Lyceum College’s opening batsman, made 89 fast runs in support of this. During his flawless 90-ball inning, he hit 10 fours and one six.

In the meanwhile, a two-day traditional match between St. Sylvester Vidyalaya in Kandy and Zahira Vidyalaya in Colombo began today. Ismat Sayan struck a half-century for Zahira Vidyalaya, while Nimesha Silva managed to show off a five-wicket effort for Sylvester Vidyalaya.
