Yesterday, at their host stadium, Nittawela, CR & FC defeated Kandy Sports Club to wrap off the seventh week of the Nippon Paint Club Rugby League 2023/34. It was the most talked about weekend in the local rugby community.

Teams from Havelock, Police, and CH & FC in addition to CR & FC were successful this past weekend.

Havelock and Navy

The Havelock Sports Club won this match last Friday (20), which was the start of the seventh week of the competition and their fourth win of the year.

In this encounter, Havelock also had the privilege of starting the scoring. Havelock’s score grew to 07 after a try by Oliver Buckle and a successful conversion by Janith Chandimal.

Havelock was up by 29 points to 07 at the end of the first half of the game. However, the Navy men came back into the game and scored three more tries in the second half of the match. Havelock did, however, score three more tries in the interim, and as a result, Havelock won the game inside the permitted time.

As a result, the Navy has failed to record a single victory this season.

 Police vs Air Force

In this encounter, which was hosted by the police squad, the air force opened the scoring, but the police players were able to score two tries in a row to seize the lead with 14 points on the scoreboard.

But thanks to a try by Air Force captain Parakrama Ratnayake, the team also surpassed the 10-point threshold before the first half of play concluded.

In the second half of the match, the players of both sides engaged in a battle to collect points, but the Police Sports Club got the most credit. Police scored three more tries in this half while Air force scored only one try. Police Sports Club 34 (5T, 3C, 1P) – Air Force Sports Club 22 (3T, 2C, 1P)

CH & FC  vs  Army Sports Club

This match finished with a highly combative face, and CH & FC were declared the winners.

Ashan Bandara of the Army opened the scoring in the 17th minute of play with a successful penalty kick. Prasath Madushanka subsequently scored a try for CH, and CH began the scoreboard.

The first half of the contest ended with CH & FC ahead 07-03, and the second half of play was much more close. Here, the Army took the lead in the game with 17–13 points during the 65th minute of play after two tries were scored by Kavin Perera and Nalaka Maduranga.

On the other hand, Nirosh Perera’s try for CH & FC in the 68th minute of play gave CH the win.
