SLC National Super League 4 Day Tournament 2024
In the matches played today (25), the captains of Team Dambulla and Team Jaffna, respectively, hit hundreds of runs. These matches marked the beginning of the second week of the four-day National Super League cricket event, which is run by Sri Lanka Cricket.
Team Dambulla’s half-centuries came from Leo Francisco and Janith Liyanage and Lahiru Madhushanka of Team Jaffna.
After winning the toss, Team Dambulla chose to bat first and finished the first day with 287 runs despite dropping three wickets.
Given that the first wicket of the innings was out for five runs, the skipper Kamindu Mendis’s selection, having won the toss, was a little disappointing. However, he oversaw the rescue effort as well.
For the second wicket, Kamindu Mendis and opener Leo Francisco shared a partnership of 194 runs off 321 balls. Leo Francisco faced 182 balls at 199 runs and was out after scoring 87 runs with 11 fours.
After facing 164 balls, Kamindu Mendis scored 115 runs with 15 fours before being removed.
At the conclusion of the day, Pawan Ratnayake was 31 not out off 68 balls with five fours, while Angelo Mathews was 47 not out off 108 balls with six fours.
Isitha Wijesundara, Lakshita Manasinghe, and Kasun Rajitha each shared a wicket in the wicket-taking effort.
