The thrilling tale of talent, tenacity, and shifting fortunes was the second Test match between India and England in Vizag. After a thrilling match, India took the lead and even the series with a dominant effort that had cricket fans on the edge of their seats on Day 4.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s incredible double hundred in India’s opening innings set a challenging 396 runs for the game to begin. In reply, England battled at the bat and ended up with a total of 253 runs. Shubman Gill scored an outstanding century to lead India to 398 runs in the second innings before being bowled out.
The game appeared to be hanging in the balance until Day 3, when England showed promise by finishing at 67/1.
On Day 4, England resumed their innings with the difficult challenge of chasing down 332 runs. England failed to sustain momentum despite a promising fifty from Zak Crawley, as wickets fell at critical junctures.
England was losing the match as the visitors continued to pile on wickets. Even with impressive performances from players such as Ben Foakes (36) and Tom Hartley (36), the Indian bowlers were a tough match. In the end, England failed by 106 runs, being bundled out for 292 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah demonstrated his skill with the ball once more, taking three vital wickets for India. India’s victory was largely down to Bumrah’s outstanding performance and the efficient assistance of Ravichandran Ashwin, who also took three wickets in the fourth innings.
