Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas smashed match-winning half-centuries for India.

India registered a thrilling win over South Africa in the first semifinal of ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2024.
Sachin Dhas and Uday Saharan shown great endurance in a heart-stopping contest at Benoni on Tuesday, guiding India to a nail-biting victory against South Africa and sealing their sixth consecutive spot in the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup final.
India had a challenging job after a blistering opening spell from the Proteas pacers, Tristan Luus and Kwena Maphaka, left them on 32 for 4. Dhas and Saharan formed a record partnership for the fifth wicket, scoring an amazing 171 runs to help India reach a daunting goal of 245. With steely nerves, the two produced contrasting but equally significant half-centuries, with Dhas scoring 96 runs off 95 deliveries, including 11 fours and a maximum, and skipper Saharan contributing 81 runs off 124 balls, including 6 fours.
India’s success was heavily influenced by their bowlers earlier in the match, who limited the 2014 champions, South Africa, to 244 for 7 on a wicket that provided great assistance. Despite a courageous effort by wicketkeeper-batsman Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who hit 76 runs off 102 balls, and Richard Seletswane’s tenacious 64 from 100 deliveries, South Africa’s innings fell short of challenging the visitors.
