Afghanistan won the toss in the first of three One-Day Internationals between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

After winning the toss, Afghan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi opted to bowl first. Both clubs appear to have great expectations for their fastball forces in this encounter, which will take place today (09) at Pallekele Stadium in Kandy.

Afghanistan has elected to enter this match with four fast bowlers, whereas Sri Lanka has taken measures to include three specialist fast bowlers and an all-round fast bowler in their squad.

Sri Lanka will field Pathum Nissanka and Pramod Madushan in place of Shevon Daniel and Sahan Arachge, who played in the previous ODI against Zimbabwe.

Batting first, the Sri Lankan team scored 192 runs after losing one wicket after 30 overs. Avishka Fernando scored 94 runs, Pathum Nissanka scored 88 runs not out.
