Australia win the fourth Under-19 World Cup

The 15th Under-19 World Cup was recently won by the Australian young team (11). They faced up against India in the South African tournament final.

Australia will win the tournament for a record fourth time this year, joining the victors of the 1988 Youth World Cup, 2002, and 2010 as well.

Additionally, they finished second in 2012 and 2018.

This time, India will not win the sixth World Cup. They have won the title five times thus far: in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022. There are four runners-up after the runner-up they took home this year.

South Africa, Pakistan, and Australia will compete in the tournament’s semifinals. Australia made it to the final there with victories over Pakistan and India in straight sets of one wicket each and against South Africa in two wickets.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, the young Australians plundered 253 runs off just 7 wickets. In the history of this World Cup, it also became the most points ever scored by an opposition team against India.

For that innings, Harjas Singh made a larger contribution. With three fours and three sixes in 64 balls, he scored 55 runs. In this competition, it was his only half-century.

Hugh Weibgen, the captain, also scored 48 runs off of 66 balls, including five fours. Aside from that, opener Harry Dixon scored 42 off 56 balls with three fours and a six, while Oliver Peake scored an undefeated 46 off 43 balls with two fours and a six.
