Early on Thursday morning, the 16-man Sri Lankan T20 team left for Bangladesh to play a three-match series.

Vice-captain Charith Asalanka will lead the squad in the first two Twenty20 matches since Wanindu Hasaranga, a vital player, is suspended by the ICC for the first two games.

Asalanka, the interim captain, stated before leaving that the team was morally high after recent series victories against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan and was ready to take on Bangladesh.

He responded, “We are fully prepared and confident of defeating Bangladesh, but we are mindful that they are a strong outfit, particularly in their own backyard.” Senior players like Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka, and Kusal Janith Player were a positive addition to the team because they added a wealth of experience.

Important players Dushmantha Chameera and Pathum Nissanka are out due to injury.

There will be two test matches in Chittagong and Sylhet after the T20 series.
