Pathum Nissanka, the opening batsman for Sri Lanka, has been nominated for the February ICC Cricketer of the Month award.

Apart from Pathum, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has suggested Yashasvi Jaiswal of India and Kane Williamson of New Zealand as the finest player of the month for players who excelled in the international cricket arena in February.

In the opening game of the one-day cricket series against Afghanistan, Pathum Nissanka struck for two centuries, making history as the first Sri Lankan to do so in a one-day contest.

In addition, he succeeded in breaking Sanath Jayasuriya’s record of the highest score in an ODI innings for Sri Lanka, which had stood for 24 years.

Pathum continued to score runs, and in the third one-day encounter against Afghanistan, he managed to hit another century. Due to a leg ailment, Pathum, who also performed well in the T20 tournament between the two nations, ended his innings in the most recent T20 encounter with an undefeated half-century.

Apart from Pathum, another young batsman who made a double century in the Test series against England was Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was also nominated for this award. In three Test cricket matches this month, Jaiswal has amassed 560 runs at a batting average of 112. The fact that he has hit 20 sixes for this many runs makes it even more remarkable.

Apart from these two, Kane Williamson of New Zealand, who was shortlisted for this award, performed well at the bat during the Test cricket series against South Africa. It’s also noteworthy because Kane, who scored two hundreds in this competition, broke the record for the fastest player in history to reach the maximum of thirty-two Test centuries.
