The third and final One Day International (ODI) of the three-match series saw Bangladesh defeat Sri Lanka in a thrilling match that was much anticipated at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The hosts successfully won the series 2-1 with the victory.

Janith Liyanage radiates a gorgeous tone

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka chose to bat first and gave Bangladesh 236 runs to pursue. Janith Liyanage’s incredible century—101 runs off 102 balls—anchored Sri Lanka’s innings.

But the Sri Lankan batting team, with the exception of Liyanage, found it difficult to form meaningful partnerships. Despite their impressive starts—37 runs from Charith Asalanka and 29 runs from Kusal Mendis—they were unable to sustain their success. In the end, Sri Lanka could only muster 235 runs in 50 overs.
Bangladesh crosses the finish line behind Tanzid Hasan and Rishad Hossain.

Bangladesh had a rough start chasing a goal of 236 runs, losing wickets quickly. Tanzid Hasan, however, led the chase with an outstanding performance, hitting 84 runs off 81 balls. He had a great knock, hitting nine fours and four sixes.

Rishad Hossain, aside with Tanzid, was the late show stealer, scoring a rapid 48 runs off just 18 balls, which was vital for Bangladesh’s chase. Bangladesh achieved an exciting triumph by successfully chasing down the goal in 40.2 overs despite losing six wickets.

Bangladesh 237 for 6 (Tanzid 84, Rishad 48*, Kumara 4-48) beat Sri Lanka 235 (Liyanage 101*, Asalanka 37, Taskin 3-42) by four wickets
