Mendis, Mathews up to ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings

All-rounder Kamindu Mendis of Sri Lanka and former captain Angelo Mathews have climbed the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings after helping their side defeat Bangladesh 2-0 in the ICC World Test Championship series with a 192-run victory in Chattogram.
With his nine and 92 not out, Kamindu Mendis has risen eighteen spots to 46th in the batting order, while his three-wicket haul in the second innings has seen him rise 46 spots to 117th in the bowling order.
After scoring 23 and 56, Mathews, who had a career-high ranking of third in August 2014, has moved up two spots to 25th. After collecting 93 runs in the first innings, Kusal Mendis has moved up three spots to 52nd, which is another noteworthy advancement for a hitter from Sri Lanka.
Asitha Fernando has risen seven spots to 27th in the bowling rankings with a four-wicket first-inning performance; Vishwa Fernando has moved up from 43rd to 41st with three wickets in the encounter; and Lahiru Kumara has moved up from 46th to 44th after taking six wickets at Chattogram.
In the Test batting rankings, Zakir Hasan, the opener for Bangladesh, has risen three spots to 75th place with 54 and 19 runs, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz has moved up from 99th to 88th place with a heroic 81 not out in the second innings. Mominul Haque, who scored 83 runs in his two innings, is now ranked 46th, having moved up four spots.
After taking six wickets in the match, Hasan Mahmud, a rookie fast bowler, joined the Test bowling rankings in 95th place.
