For the first three Twenty20 Internationals of the series against Zimbabwe next month, Bangladesh has selected a formidable team.

Muhammad Saifuddin, an all-round fast bowler, has been called up by Bangladesh to the Twenty20 international team for their May series against Zimbabwe.

With the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in mind, Saifuddin’s acquisition strengthens the team. Saifuddin has played 34 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Bangladesh, the latest of which was in October 2022.

After a protracted injury layoff, Saifuddin is back, and he recently played for Fortune Barishal in their Bangladesh Premier League championship campaign.

Tanzid Hasan, the ODI opener who hasn’t played in a T20 international, is also included in the team.

Shakib Al Hasan is not on the team, which is captained by Najmul Hossain Shanto, although he is anticipated to contribute later in the series.

Due to an eye ailment and a finger problem, Shakib took a hiatus following the conclusion of the 2023 ODI World Cup in November. Earlier this month, in the Chattogram Test against Sri Lanka, he made his comeback to international cricket.

Zimbabwe will host Bangladesh for the first three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) on May 3, 5, and 7 at Chattogram. On May 10 and 12, Dhaka will host the final two Twenty20 Internationals.

Bangladesh squad for first three T20Is: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Litton Kumer Das, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah, Jaker Ali Anik, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanvir Islam, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin.
