Several leading cricketing nations have already unveiled their squads for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan is currently finalising their 15-man team for the coveted global tournament, the T20 World Cup 2024, while several other top cricketing nations have already revealed their squads.

The United States of America (USA) and the West Indies will co-host the mega-event, with New Zealand leading the pack in team announcements. The news was released on Monday, April 29. India, South Africa, and the reigning champions, England, all revealed their squads after suit. The United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Australia, the defending champions from the 2021 competition, also unveiled their team on Wednesday.

Pakistan delays T20 World Cup squad announcement

Chief selector Wahab Riaz has now revealed that worries over some players’ performance and fitness have caused the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to postpone announcing their World Cup team until late May. Pakistan just revealed their 18-man team for the next trip of England and Ireland. From that group, a final 15-man team will be selected for the T20 World Cup, which is slated to start soon after both tours end.

In response to questions about why the squad announcement was delayed, Wahab stated that in order to make sure the team is prepared for the grueling competition, it is necessary to evaluate the fitness levels of players like Haris Rauf and others before making a final selection. He did, however, guarantee that the announcement will be made after May 21.

“We need to assess Haris Rauf’s and a few other players’ fitness. After May 21, Pakistan will reveal their team for the 2024 T20 World Cup, according to Wahab.
