James Anderson set to retire from international cricket
2024.05.11
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stated on Saturday that veteran pacer James Anderson of England will be retiring from Test cricket this summer.
The European Central Bank (ECB) said in a statement that Anderson made his retirement known in a personal letter.
“Hello to all of you. In a statement provided by the ECB, Anderson said, “I just wanted to let you know that the first Test of the summer at Lord’s will be my last Test.”
“I’ve had the amazing opportunity to represent my country and play the game I’ve always loved for 20 years. I’m going to really miss leaving for England. However, I am aware that the moment has come for me to move aside and allow others to experience the same level of fulfillment as I did. There is no feeling better.
Without the love and encouragement from my parents, Daniella, Lola, and Ruby, I would not have been able to succeed. A heartfelt gratitude to them. I also want to thank the coaches and players who have helped to make this the greatest profession in the world.
“I’m eager to take on the new challenges that lie ahead and to play even more golf every day.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way; even though my face doesn’t always reflect it, it has always meant a lot.
“Godspeed, and see you at the test.”
The only pacer in history to take 700 wickets in Test cricket is James Anderson. In March of this year, during England’s fifth away Test against India, he reached the milestone.
He is also third on the list of players with the most Test wickets, only surpassed by the late Australian Shane Warne (708 wickets) and Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan (800 wickets).
