Bangladesh’s squad for the T20 World Cup
2024.05.14
Bangladesh’s skipper for all forms, Najmul Hossain Shanto, was named earlier this year and is expected to command his side in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Following a convincing 4-1 victory over Zimbabwe in the recently ended T20I home series, Bangladesh revealed their 15-man roster for the major event that takes place next month.
Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who hasn’t played T20I cricket in over a year, is also included in the team. Shakib made an impression by taking four wickets in the fourth match of Bangladesh’s last two Twenty20 Internationals against Zimbabwe, earning a spot in the team.
The 15-player Bangladeshi team for the T20 World Cup did not include any significant shocks; youthful, fast Tanzim Hasan Sakib was selected after making two outings against Zimbabwe.
Left-arm quick Shoriful Islam was also picked by the selectors, despite the 22-year-old being rested for the final two games against Zimbabwe. As backups, Hasan Mahmud and Afif Hossain Dhrubo will go to the competition.
For the competition next month, Bangladesh has been put into Group D with South Africa, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and Nepal. Their first match is scheduled for June 7 in Dallas against Sri Lanka.
