Pakistan tour of England 2024.
2024.05.21
In a four-match Twenty20 International series, England and Pakistan will square off starting on Wednesday, May 22, at Headingley, Leeds.
Following a five-month break, England will play T20I cricket again during this series. December 2023 saw the team’s final T20I series matchup with the West Indies. Since then, a large number of English cricket players have participated in international franchise competitions, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
However, with their recent triumph in Ireland, Pakistan will go into the series full of confidence. Ireland was defeated 2-1 in the Twenty20 International Series by the team captained by Babar Azam. Pakistan hopes to maintain a strong momentum going into the England series thanks to their recent victory.
It is expected that the Headingley surface would provide a nice balance of possibilities for batsmen and bowlers. At first, the bowlers might get some movement out of the surface, which would provide a difficult situation for the hitters. But as the game progresses, the pitch usually becomes more hitter-friendly, providing them with superior playing conditions. In this situation, spin bowlers will also be crucial since the pitch may give them the benefit of the ball holding the surface, which makes it more difficult for hitters to navigate.
