Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by four wickets in the IPL 2024 Eliminator.

In a dramatic Eliminator match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by four wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The inaugural season champions will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai for Qualifier 2. The victor of this battle will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final.

Batting first, RCB scored a respectable total of 172/8 in 20 overs. Rajat Patidar led the way with a quick 34 off 22 balls, but Virat Kohli (33 off 24) and Mahipal Lomror (32 off 17) also contributed significantly. Despite losing wickets at frequent intervals, RCB managed to keep the scoreboard ticking with some lower-order hitting from Swapnil Singh (9 off 4) and Karn Sharma (5 off 4).

Avesh Khan was RR’s top bowler, taking three wickets but conceding 44 runs in his four overs. Ravichandran Ashwin offered solid support, taking two wickets for 19 runs. Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal each took one wicket, successfully limiting the RCB batters in the middle overs.

Chasing 173, RR started brightly, with Yashasvi Jaiswal leading the way with a fluent 45 off 30 deliveries. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (20 off 15) and Riyan Parag (36 off 26) helped RR stay in contention. Despite some fast wickets in the middle overs, Shimron Hetmyer (26 off 14) and Rovman Powell (16 off 8) helped RR cross the line with an over to spare, ending on 174/6 in 19 overs.

Mohammed Siraj led the RCB’s bowling attack, taking two wickets for 33 runs in four overs. Cameron Green and Karn Sharma each took one wicket, but their efforts were insufficient to prevent the RR hitters from achieving their goal. This victory advanced Rajasthan into the Qualifier 2. Meanwhile, RCB’s adventure came to a conclusion here, capping off a successful season.
