The high-voltage final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) concluded with KKR topping the battle by 8 wickets. It was the Knight Riders’ third overall title.

SRH struggled to find their feet after deciding to bat first. The KKR bowlers were relentless, with Mitchell Starc setting the tone early by claiming two wickets for 14 runs in three overs. Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana backed him up with controlled periods, while Andre Russell was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for 19 runs in 2.3 overs.

Pat Cummins: Top-scored for SRH with 24 runs off 19 balls, including two fours and one six.
Aiden Markram scored 20 runs off 23 balls, with three boundaries.
Heinrich Klaasen managed 16 runs off 17 balls.

The SRH batting lineup struggled to form partnerships, succumbing to a concerted effort from the KKR bowlers. Varun Chakravarthy also contributed efficiently, taking one wicket for nine runs in his two overs.

Venkatesh Iyer’s scorching half-century helped KKR easily meet the modest mark. His aggressive knock of 52 runs off 26 balls, including four fours and three sixes, cemented KKR’s domination.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz: Had a great start, scoring 39 runs off 32 balls, including five fours and two sixes.
Sunil Narine came in at number three and smashed a fast six off two balls.
Shreyas Iyer finished the match with 6 runs off three balls, including a boundary.

The SRH spinners failed to restrict the KKR batsmen. Cummins and Shahbaz Ahmed both grabbed a wicket, but it was unable to preserve their low score. KKR’s sweeping victory was a credit to their all-round performance, as they dominated with both the ball and the bat.
