The widely anticipated T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to take place in the scenic landscapes of the West Indies and the vibrant venues of the United States of America (USA) in the first week of June, has produced a fierce buzz of excitement. With a powerful group of 20 teams preparing for fierce matchups, this event marks a watershed moment in cricket history.

It is a watershed moment, commemorating the victorious return of the ICC T20 globe Cup to the West Indies after a sabbatical since 2010, as well as providing the USA with a brilliant opportunity to showcase its developing cricketing ability in front of the globe.

Format of the T20 World Cup

For the first stage, the teams will be grouped into four groups of five, with each side required to play at least four matches against the other teams in their group. The top two teams from each group progress to the Super 8, while the rest return home. In the Super 8, the remaining eight teams will be separated into two groups and play three matches each to decide the semi-finalists.

The winners of each Super 8s group then compete in the semi-finals, with the winners advancing to the grand final. All eyes will be on Barbados on June 29th, as two teams compete for T20 World Cup gold.

Specific requirements for Match results

In the case of a draw in any match, an exciting Super Over will begin. If the Super Over ends in a stalemate, more Super Overs will be played until a winner is determined.

Furthermore, extra time has been set aside to guarantee that all knockout games are completed within the tournament’s semi-final and final rounds.
Both semi-finals have a total of 250 minutes of extra time available. The first semi-final on June 26th will add 60 minutes to the conclusion of the planned day’s play, with an extra 190 minutes set aside for June 27th if required. The second semi-final on June 27th has a full 250 minutes of extra time available on the designated day.

For the grand finale on June 29, a reserve day on June 30 has been scheduled to provide for any unanticipated delays.
