Akeal Hosein finished with the career best figures of 5/11 in his four overs.

Akeal Hosein made ICC T20 World Cup history by providing a scintillating performance against Uganda. The left-arm spinner had the greatest stats of any West Indies bowler in the event, with 5/11 in four overs. Hosein opened the bowling for the side and contributed significantly to the West Indies’ 134-run victory in the Group C match at Providence Stadium in Guyana.

West Indies batted first and put on a dominant performance against Uganda. Brandon King and Johnson Charles created a strong foundation for an impressive score. Charles led the innings with 44 runs, and Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, and Andre Russell all contributed significantly. Their combined efforts helped the West Indies to a daunting score of 173/5 in their allocated 20 overs.

Uganda’s bowlers worked hard to limit the flow of runs against a powerful West Indian outfit. Despite Brian Masaba’s efforts (2/31) and early breakthroughs by Alpesh Ramjani and Dinesh Nakrani, Uganda struggled to maintain consistency. They faced an uphill struggle against the West Indies hitters and were unable to prevent them from scoring a staggering score.

In chase of 174 runs, Uganda’s batting order disintegrated under the persistent assault of the West Indies’ bowling attack. Hosein and Alzarri Joseph tore apart Uganda’s batting order with their blistering pace and precise line. Aside from a courageous effort by Juma Miyagi (13), Uganda’s batsmen provided no substantial opposition, falling to the West Indies’ unrelenting bowling attack. Hosein’s steady bowling produced five wickets for only 11 runs, but Joseph created havoc with his raw speed, taking two wickets for six runs. Romario Shepherd and Russell made critical breakthroughs, ensuring Uganda’s batting order never found its feet.
