Sri Lanka under-19 team’s new captain is Dinura Kalupahana.

The all-rounder Dinura Kalupahana of Galle Mahinda Vidyalaya has been selected as the under-19 team’s skipper for their upcoming tour of England starting next week.
For this journey, a squad of eighteen players has been announced, including a few who competed in the South Africa-hosted Under-19 World Cup.
Dinura Kalupahana participated actively in the just finished World Cup as well. He played in five games and amassed the most run total of any player in this nation with 196 runs, including three half-centuries.
Aside from that, this squad also has superb all-around player Vihas Thevmika, opening left-handed batsman Pulindu Perera, and wicketkeeper Sharujan Shanmuganathan.
Additionally, this time around, Diniru Abeywickramasinghe and Geetika de Silva, who have both played for the Sri Lankan young team under the age of 19, are eligible to reserve spots in this squad.
Furthermore, this team will play in the Ceylon Premier League Twenty20 Cricket Tournament alongside the Galle Marvels. Sadev Samarasinghe of Nalanda College, who scored the first 1000 runs in the academic year in 2024, and Manuj Chanthuka of St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, who passed the century-wicket mark in this competition, are also included in this squad. The roster announced for this tour also includes the available Yuri Kottigoda.
