With 20 overs remaining, Sri Lanka amassed a strong score of 201/7, a strong start to their innings. With a scorching 46 off only 21 deliveries, Charith Asalanka set the standard. Kusal Mendis (46) and Dhananjaya de Silva (34), too, made significant contributions. With their rapid fire innings, Angelo Mathews (30) and Wanindu Hasaranga (20) added the icing and helped Sri Lanka surpass 200 runs, an uncommon accomplishment in this competition.

With 202 needed to win, the Netherlands got off to a strong start on the powerplay thanks to Michael Levitt’s assertiveness. But Sri Lanka’s diverse bowling assault quickly took over. With statistics of 3/24, Nuwan Thushara spearheaded the attack, with captain Hasaranga and Matheesha Pathirana both taking two wickets. Maheesh Theekshana and Dasun Shanaka both made significant contributions as the Netherlands was bowled out for 118 in 16.4 overs.
