Three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) will be played in the next bilateral series between Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and India.

The first Twenty20 International (T20I) will take place on July 26. The second T20I will take place on July 27. The third T20I will take place on July 29. The series’ ODI portion will start on August 1 and the next two games are set for August 4 and 7. The picturesque Pallekele International Cricket Stadium will host all Twenty20 Internationals, while the prestigious R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will hold One Day International matches.

After an unfortunate group stage exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, Sri Lanka will be playing cricket again for the first time in their international career with this series. With the appointment of Sanath Jayasuriya as interim coach following Chris Silverwood’s departure during the World Cup, Sri Lanka hopes to turn around its cricketing woes. The series provides them with an essential forum to reorganize, reevaluate tactics, and gain momentum in front of next missions.

Conversely, the trip of Sri Lanka will also be Gautam Gambhir’s first assignment as India’s new head coach, following his recent replacement of Rahul Dravid. Using a reserve team, Dravid has managed the Indian team during their prior bilateral series against Sri Lanka in July 2021. This series marks the beginning of Gambhir’s reign as head coach and the beginning of a new era.
