The last selection committee that chose the T20 World Cup team included Yousuf and Shafiq.
Former players Muhammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq have been retained by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the reorganized selection committee that will choose the squads for the home Test series against Bangladesh that begins next month.
The last selection committee that chose the T20 World Cup team included Yousuf and Shafiq. Surprisingly, the PCB kept Yousuf and Shafiq while firing teammates Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq after the team lost in the big event’s first round.
Wahab managed the senior squad during the World Cup, the visits to England and Ireland, and Yousuf coached the Pakistani batting unit.
The head coaches and captains of the red and white ball teams will also be on the new committee. Every member, including Yousuf and Shafiq, will be able to vote and make decisions. In a recent development, the board also proposed four of its members/employees and assistant team coach Azhar Mahmood to serve as the committee’s non-voting members.
Among them are Hassan Cheema, Manager of Analytics and Team Strategy, Nadeem Khan, Director of High-Performance, and Usman Wahla, Director of International Cricket, who serves as adviser to PCB Chairman Bilal Afzal.
The team for the two-Test series against Bangladesh, which is a part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023–25 cycle, will be chosen by the reorganized committee. Two Test matches between Bangladesh and Pakistan are scheduled.
