Olympic champions Andre De Grasse and Damian Warner have been nominated to the Canadian Olympic squad for the Paris Games, which will take place from August 1 to 11.

De Grasse has been chosen for the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m events, where he has won six medals in the last two Olympic Games, including the 200m gold in Tokyo. Warner will defend his decathlon crown, which he earned with an Olympic record score of 9018 points after winning bronze in Rio.

They will be joined by fellow global gold medalists Marco Arop (800m), Ethan Katzberg (hammer), Pierce LePage (decathlon), and Camryn Rogers (hammer), all of whom won at last year’s World Athletics Championships in Budapest, as well as Sarah Mitton (shot put), who won the world indoor title in Glasgow in March.

Canada’s team members have a total of 15 Olympic medals and 36 World Athletics Championship or World Athletics Relays medals.

Along with these known talents, the squad includes other competitors making their Olympic debuts in Paris, including as sprinters Audrey Leduc and Christopher Morales Williams.

Additional competitors may be added to the team after qualifying through World Rankings.
