Ethiopia chooses squad for the Paris Olympics.

Selemon Barega will defend his 10,000m title, while Gudaf Tsegay has been registered for a 1500m, 5000m, and 10,000m triple as part of Ethiopia’s team at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Barega won gold in Tokyo ahead of Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo, and he will be joined in the 10,000m in Paris by his countrymen Berihu Aregawi and Yomif Kejelcha, who was also nominated for the 5,000m.
Lamecha Girma, the world record holder in the 3000m steeplechase, will compete for his first global gold medal after winning silver in Tokyo and the previous three World Championships.
Diribe Welteji, the world 1500m silver medallist, will compete with Tsegay, the Olympic bronze medallist in the 5000m and the world champion in the 10,000m and 5000m in 2022 and 2023, respectively, in the shorter of the three races.
World record holder Tigist Assefa, Amane Beriso, and Megertu Alemu will compete in the women’s marathon, while the men’s field will include Kenenisa Bekele, Sisay Lemma, and Deresa Geleta.
