Great Britain & NI names team Paris Olympics
2024.07.19
Olympic medalists Josh Kerr, Laura Muir, Holly Bradshaw, and Keely Hodgkinson are a few of the athletes named to represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland in the August 1–11 Olympic Games in Paris.
In Tokyo, Hodgkinson and Muir won silver in the 800 and 1500 meters, respectively, while Kerr took home bronze in the 1500 meters and bronze in the Bradshaw pole vault.
Having won two gold medals at the world championships in the 1500 meters in Budapest last year and the 3000 meters indoors in Glasgow in March, Kerr is back at the Olympics.
He will be accompanied by fellow world champions Molly Caudery, who won the gold in the pole vault in Glasgow, and Katarina Johnson-Thompson, who won the heptathlon in Budapest.
Athletes competing in their first Olympics include sprinter Louie Hinchliffe and 800-meter runner Phoebe Gill. Other global gold medallists include Jake Wightman and Dina Asher-Smith.
Over the weekend, Gill, a 17-year-old, won the 800m national title in 1:58.66, making history as the youngest British Championship winner since 1974. In 10.18, Hinchliffe, the NCAA champion, won the 100 meters.
