At the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, around 80,000 spectators witnessed the official presentation of the 25-year-old France star as the team’s newest member.
In front of a raucous Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Kylian Mbappé finally realized his boyhood ambition on Tuesday by donning a Real Madrid shirt. During the official introduction of the 25-year-old France star as the club’s newest player, around 80,000 people attended the Bernabéu to greet him. With enthusiastic applause from the Madrid supporters, Mbappé took the stage at the Bernabéu after he and club president Florentino Pérez inked a five-year deal with the Spanish superpower.
Donning the No. 9 shirt, Mbappé grinned widely and gestured to the supporters who were chanting his name. He then gave a hug to Pérez and Zinedine Zidane, the coach and former player for Real Madrid who had originally welcomed Mbappé to the Spanish team when he was a youngster. “For me, it’s a fantastic day,” Mbappé said to the assembly in Spanish. “I’ve wanted to play for Real Madrid since I was a young child, and now I am.” It is really important to me.”
Family members of Mbappé, representatives of the club, and a few former players were gathered near the stage at the Bernabéu, which had its roof closed for the lunchtime ceremony in the capital of Spain. There were also children connected to Mbappé’s foundation present. The platform where Mbappé made his debut also featured a representation of Madrid’s record-15 European Cup victories.
