2024.07.21
The medals for the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru, have been revealed. They include the event logo, which represents a love of athletics and a dedication to the country’s rich cultural heritage.
From August 27 to August 31, athletes will compete in 45 events for gold, silver, and bronze medals. Lima will host a World Athletics Series event for the first time in its history.
Three primary motifs are used into the medals’ event logo.
Machu Picchu, the most remarkable archeological monument in Peru and the most significant gift of the Inca civilization to humanity, is perched atop a mountain in Cusco.
It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1983 and is regarded as one of the seven new marvels of the contemporary world.
The “chasquis,” or ancient runners, traveled great distances during the Inca Empire to deliver messages from one settlement to another.
These runners were physically ready to complete their task from an early age and were organized under an effective post system.
The Machu Picchu citadel may be seen in the background of the official World Athletics U20 Championships Lima 24 logo, which features a chasqui sprinting symbolically along an athletics track.
It stands for the athletes’ hard work and dedication to their sport as well as the amazing heritage of Peru that welcomes them with open arms.
