The women’s T20 World Cup will be held in Bangladesh later in October, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) says it has been monitoring the security situation there.
Following student protests seeking changes to the government job quota system, violence broke out in Dhaka and other cities on Saturday. The Bangladesh Police implemented a curfew and military personnel patrolled the city.
“We have global, independent security monitoring.” Therefore, to answer your question on condition of anonymity, “yes, we are monitoring it (the situation in Bangladesh),” the ICC Board member told PTI.
In the women’s T20 World Cup, Australia has emerged as the most successful side, taking home the trophy a record six times in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023.
West Indies and England have each won the competition once, while India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, will try to win it all for the first time.
Indian bowler Renuka Singh stated that the squad is utilizing the Women’s Asia Cup in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, as a practice for the ICC championship match.
“We will have to rely on practice after this Asia Cup because we don’t have many matches left before the T20 World Cup,” she stated. Thus, we are learning from this, and things may be comparable in Bangladesh. Thus, we have a great opportunity to prepare for the World Cup now.
