On Sunday, July 21, in Dambulla, Pakistan Women defeated Nepal Women by 9 wickets in a convincing batting effort in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 Group A match. With a target of 109, Pakistan reached their objective in 11.5 overs thanks to outstanding efforts from Muneeba Ali and Gull Feroza. Pakistan’s chase was steadied by Feroza’s blazing 57 off 35 balls and Ali’s undefeated 46 off 34 balls, guaranteeing a comfortable victory and showcasing their domination in the competition.
Nepal encountered several difficulties during their innings, eventually finishing with a total of 108/6 in the 20 overs that were allocated to them. Their innings was doomed from the outset when Samjhana Khadka was removed for only 4 runs too soon. With a patient 26 off 30 balls, Sita Rana Magar offered some consistency, but other important players, such as captain Indu Barma and Kabita Kunwar, who were removed for low scores, failed to make significant contributions. Although Puja Mahato’s 25 off 32 balls and Kabita Joshi’s late comeback of 31 not out off 23 balls helped Nepal’s total reach a relatively competitive level, it was not enough to withstand Pakistan’s difficult chase.
Feroza and Muneeba, who opened the chase for Pakistan, did a fantastic job of handling the objective. With a brilliant performance that saw him score an astounding 57 runs off of 35 balls, including 10 boundaries, Feroza set the tone. Her forceful hitting provided a strong base for the pursuit. She had excellent help from Muneeba, who scored an undefeated 46 off of 34 balls. Because of their effective collaboration, Pakistan was able to easily attain the mark in just 11.5 overs. At 105, Feroza was the only player to be removed from the game by Kabita. Alongside Muneeba, Tuba Hassan helped Pakistan Women cross the finish line and win handily.
